Porsche accelerates the electrical

After the Cayenne hybrid series, 911 GT3 R Hybrid makes sparks in competition and the superb 918 Spyder which foreshadows a hybrid "plug in" to the Future, Porsche spent a new level with the production launch of a Boxster 100% Electric.

Within the framework of a research program, launched by the German Ministry of Transport in the Stuttgart region, this project will see the day. The firm will develop three vehicles laboratory, designed on the basis of the Boxster and have a fully electric engine.

The tests, which will begin in early 2011, would provide important information on the new components of electric motors and battery systems for fully electric vehicles, as well as infrastructure necessary for electric mobility. Porsche take the opportunity to evaluate the behavior of users and the requirements that will meet future products.



Porsche is not ready to compromise on performance. Insofar as the 918 Spyder offers 600 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h, with average consumption of 3L/100 km, the Boxster is necessarily a power racing machine. But it should also provide reasonable autonomy. In any case, the Tesla Roadster goes to the opposite concurence with SLS AMG Mercedes E-Cell (in 2013) and the Boxster electric.
