2011 Kia Optima

Kia Motors Corporation held the world premiere of his new Kia Optima D-segment saloon in 2010 New York International Auto Show. Arriving in Kia showrooms in the United Kingdom in 2011, the Kia Optima continues to design-led transformation, while revealing a completely new design language and surprising to Kia, highlighted by a dynamic and functional profile that conveys confidence and sporting elegance from every angle. Kia's new saloon will be called 'K5' in Korea and 'Optima' in all markets.

Designed at Kia studies in Frankfurt, Germany and Irvine, California, the new Kia Magentis is longer, wider and lower than the Magentis which replaces and builds on an entirely new platform that enables medium to the size and distinctive proportions, while providing a unique picture for the global design team Kia from the pen of a vehicle that is different from everything else in its segment.

The new Kia Optima high performance projects yet elegant image, with its unique shape and elegant approach based on Kia Motor's philosophy of creating dynamic vehicles that evoke passion. Its striking bold grille features Optima Kia signature that is flanked by projector headlights.

Kia Optima coupe-like profile is reinforced by an arc of chromium radical is derived from the A to the C-pillars, a distinctive visual design motif which further reduces the car and increase their proportions.  Kia Optima roofline connects with its high waistline and pronounced that takes its sculpted flanks and extended (2795 mm) wheelbase. Courage exploded wheel arches and a steeply sloping rear window to create a living room with a graceful muscular stance.

The all-new Optima exterior offer numerous standard features including dual exhaust, solar glass and indicators on the mirrors. Depending on the level of finish, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, exterior chrome or body-colored door handles, along with alloy wheels of 17 inches and 215/55 R17 tires will also be available.

Higher levels of adjustment to add auto-leveling HID headlamps, LED tail lights, unique front grille design, rear lip spoiler, sculpted side skirts, Aero wipers, brake calipers red and black 18-inch alloy wheels finishing machine equipped with 225/45 R18 - achieve a look performance.

Inside, all-new Kia Optima creates an immediate sense that this is a car to drive. The instrument panel has a contour to the driver to suggest a cockpit feel, with precise indicators and controls to a sporty overall experience without sacrificing comfort or livability. Paddle shifters behind the steering wheel (standard on automatic versions outside North America) to convey that Kia Optima is built for people who are passionate about driving their cars. A great console with a short shifter is added to the atmosphere of the flight deck, while an optional panoramic glass roof provides an open-air feeling.

Offering the occupants of space and comfort with a range of standard comfort features, the saloon cabin chic unified with the exterior design, welcoming passengers with slim design and ergonomic seats. Modern standard features such as six-way adjustable driver seat with power lumbar support, illuminated vanity mirrors, trip computer and further expand the luxury qualities of the car.

In addition to providing a comfortable cabin, most impressive technology offers also come as standard on all sides, including a high quality 'dimension' audio system with AM / FM / CD player and MP3 compatibility with eight speakers. And auxiliary audio input jacks to connect USB MP3 player and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel controls the voice activation feature assembly, according to the market.

Interior comfort and convenience will be enhanced with available features, including a tilt / telescoping steering column, power locks, power windows, sun visor extension and an air-conditioned glove box. Cloth seats, elegantly furnished, with comfortable seating while a 60/40 split folding rear seat features a versatile carrying capacity. Equipped with automatic transmission Kia Optima (in markets outside North America), will have active cruise control and Eco System 'Kia' indicator to assist in driving fuel efficient.

Other available features include the premium push-button start with smart key automatic dual control climate zone, heating and ventilating front and rear seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, automatic lighting control, driver and passenger front window auto up / down and eight-way powered driver's seat, illuminated glove compartment, rear reading lights and chrome door handles.

Depending on trim level, the Kia Optima also offers unique black leather seat trim fabric, interior trim in black with carbon film insert and metal details on a set of monitoring tools with LCD screen, center of the fascia and meters, smooth finish with French seams, alloy foot pedals and illuminated door scuff plates. Available upgrades also include a panoramic sunroof powered seats, leather upholstery, memory driver seat and heated steering wheel for additional interior refinement.

For Europe and North America, voice-activated navigation system with seven-inch screen, will be combined with the operation of the audio system to improve the car audiophile, or those seeking the latest technology for superior quality of experience modern driving. 

The Kia Optima is built on an entirely new platform. Optima low, the tilt position and powerful is reinforced by the total length of 4845 mm - an increase of 45 mm in the previous model - maximum width of 1830 mm and wheelbase of 2795 mm, an increase of 75 mm and has a low ground clearance for improved aerodynamics and reduce drag, increase fuel efficiency.

Body design, lightweight Kia Optima uses high strength steel for strength to improve the structural strength, and achieve high torsional stiffness, the benefit of handling, ride quality and refinement. Additional measures to help ensure good noise vibration and harshness (NVH) are equipped to reduce the qualities of the entire Optima.

Kia Optima employs unitary construction with sub-plots to support the fully independent front and rear suspension systems. MacPherson struts are used in the front with a multi-link design in the rear, with independent springs and dampers springs in the rear and a front anti-roll bar to ensure responsible management and provide excellent driving comfort. 

For Western Europe, the new Kia Optima is available with an optional 2.0-liter and 1.7 liter gasoline CVVL VGT turbo-diesel engines. In Russia and some Eastern European markets will be offered with a 2.4-liter engine producing 178 ps gasoline MPI. All transmissions for the new Kia Optima, both manual and automatic, have six speeds. Outside Europe Kia Magentis is available with six all-new Theta II engine of the family (by market), with the first application of Kia GDI technology and up to 278 hp. 

In keeping with the philosophy of engineering security Kia, the all-new Optima will have a high level of standard safety features. The equipment includes six airbags (dual front airbags, seat mounted side airbags and side airbags full length of the curtain), active front head restraints, side-impact door beams, height adjustable front seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters, three-point safety belts for all seating positions, Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH), and available in Europe and North America, a tire pressure monitoring (TPMS). Security systems driving the Kia Optima include antilock brakes (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), traction control (TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS) and Hill Assist Control (HAC) - depending on the market.
