2011 Ford S-MAX

Ford Europe will present new versions of its core products-Ford S-MAX and Ford Galaxy in the Hall of Brussels 2010. With fresh designs and the latest evolution of the signs of Ford's kinetic design, which features new functionality and interior materials, wide range of more efficient propulsion systems and a series of driver-focused technologies designed for safety and comfort.

The 2010 Ford S-MAX and Ford Galaxy models will begin a busy year for new product introductions, Ford of Europe, but more importantly, announce the arrival of a series of innovative new technologies and features, as presented throughout year, the perception that call into question what Ford cars feel like sitting and driving.

These are the first cars to be available with Ford's all-new, high-efficiency 2.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine. The output of 203 hp (149 kW) binds significantly improved to 2.0 Duratorq TDCi diesel with 140 hp kW (103), plus a new 163 hp (120 kW) variant. Furthermore, the smooth and effortless PowerShift Ford humid with the double-clutch transmission available for the first time in the range of large cars from Ford, will be standard equipment with EcoBoost petrol engine and optional Duratorq diesel engines.

A series of new and innovative safety and comfort features debut in the Ford range versions of the new Ford S-MAX and Ford Galaxy, including a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS ®), and the new infant feeding backdoor installation lock. On one side, the Ford S-MAX is immediately recognizable and stands out even more now with the window profile enhanced by a chrome strip that surrounds the whole glass area to improve lines of stylish and sporty car.

The rear of the new Ford S-MAX has also been redesigned with a more dynamic profile tailgate, a lower fascia, and new LED taillights that extend deep into the rear flanks, creating athletic look even stronger. Promote the premium its appeal, while most distinctive of the new car is a satin chrome horizontal bar that extends between the LED taillights and is engraved with the distinctive S MAX logo.

The new Ford Galaxy also features a redesigned front section, which emphasizes their first class trip appeal and, along with a number of important revisions of other details, enhance its role as Ford's luxury size complete motor seat seven people. Carefully balanced new color and material options to deliver a touch of luxury and dynamic which helps to distinguish the individual personality of each model to meet customer tastes and requirements. For both vehicles, the Ford FoldFlatSystem is a standard for the second and, when installed, third row of seats.

Ford S-MAX Series models receive a high overhead in the new console with large capacity multifunctional stowage, sunglasses holder and child watch mirror and a new piece panorama roof blinds equipped with energy. For the first time high number of Ford S-MAX models, all models equipped with the panoramic roof, get a new interior LED lighting system.

Music lovers will enjoy the new Ford Galaxy and S-MAX Premium Sound System option, which is based on an eight-channel amplifier with a total power of 265 Watts, with an improved speaker system, including additional center channel speaker in the center of the dashboard and a large sub-woofer installed behind the left front seat.

Loading through the back door is also made easier thanks to a new courtesy light, fitted into the inside panel of the back door, which lights up when opened. New interior colors, graphics and materials are offered in all series, and were chosen to create a global premium feel while supporting the individual character of each model.

New Ford S-MAX and Galaxy offers a wide selection of the latest Ford Powertrain technologies developed to provide a solid combination of fuel economy and reduce emissions without sacrificing driving pleasure renowned Ford. These are the first vehicles to offer an all new 2.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine SCTI, heralding a new era in the development of Ford's gasoline engine. Yet the construction of lightweight aluminum, the latest generation of high pressure direct injection system, low inertia turbocharger and two independent variable cam timing, the 2.0-liter EcoBoost SCTI has an advanced combustion system that offers new levels of performance and fuel efficiency than gasoline engines in this power range.

The SCTI EcoBoost 2.0-liter engine has a maximum power of 203 hp (149kW) at 5,500 rpm, combined with maximum torque of 300 Nm, which is delivered through a range of 1,750-4,500 rpm. With this new engine, the Ford S-MAX achieves 0-100km / h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 8.5 seconds (8.8 seconds for the new Ford Galaxy) and a top speed of 221 km / h ( 137 mph) - 217 kilometers / h (135 mph) for the Ford Galaxy.

However, even with this response performance, fuel economy and CO2 emissions from the new engine significantly improves. Compared with the previous 161 PS 2.3-liter automatic drive system, CO2 emissions are reduced by 19 percent to 189 g / km, although the new 2.0-liter engine SCTI has more than 25 percent energy. This results in a combined fuel economy of only 8.1 l/100 km (34.8 miles per gallon) and an additional amount of 6.4 urban l/100 km (44.1 miles per gallon).

Meanwhile, Ford diesel offering for the new S-MAX and Galaxy have been significantly improved. The family improved 2.0 liters Ford Duratorq TDCi engine meets emission regulations Stage V, and is also available in three power levels - 115, 140 and 163 PS (85, 103 and 120 kW) - for the first time.

Designed to offer a refined performance and low cost of ownership, these new Duratorq TDCi engines also offer impressive combined fuel economy and CO2 performance. With consumption of 5.7 l/100 km (49.5 mpg), with an average emission of CO2 of 152 g / km, the new S-MAX and Galaxy, with six-speed manual transmission, demonstrating that it is possible to combine driving fun and convincing performance with high efficiency.

The smooth and efficient exchange of Ford PowerShift dual wet-clutch transmission is the perfect complement to the new direct injection petrol and common rail diesel engines. It is standard with the new EcoBoost SCTI and also available as an option with the 140 and 163 PS (103 and 120 kW) Version 2.0-liter Duratorq TDCi.

The new S-MAX and Galaxy being the pioneer vehicles, Ford of Europe for the new function of Blind Spot Information System (BLIS ®). This radar-based installation encourages a driver to be even more conscientious in control over your shoulder by warning of vehicles in its blind spot area. Moreover, the new adjustable speed limitation device (ASLD) is designed to help drivers adjust, and then not exceed the speed limit unintentionally specific - another first for Ford of Europe.
